About the UASFT

The Ukrainian Association of Systemic Family Therapy (the UASFT) is a voluntary association of individuals, established for the exercise of the rights and freedoms of a human being and a citizen, meeting the community interests including economic, community, cultural, educational, and other interests of its members and/ or other persons.

The UASFT unites citizens and experts who are engaged in psychological practice, research in the sphere of psychology, family therapy and other persons acting in Ukraine.

The main goal of the UASFT is:

  • Facilitating development of the family therapy in Ukraine.
  • Establishing a professional association of the psychologists.
  • Developing and promoting psychological culture and knowledge in the sphere of the family therapy.
  • Meeting and protecting legal interests of social, economic, professional, creative, spiritual character and other common interests;
  • Promoting development of the psychology as a profession in Ukraine.

Key tasks of the UASFT are the following:

  • Joining and coordinating efforts of the professional psychologists with the purpose of promotion and development of the family therapy, strengthening the social prestige of the family in Ukraine.
  • Participation in the forming of the young generation of professionals in the sphere of psychology, psychotherapy, and family therapy.
  • Promoting the professional activity of a psychologist, psychotherapist in the institutions, at the companies (associations), organizations and in the spheres of economy of Ukraine.
  • Promoting the forming of a systemic mechanism of cooperation for the professional psychologists and their associations with the ministries, departments, offices, state committees, scientific research institutions and profile committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, city and regional councils and other local authorities.
  • Representing and protecting the interests of its members when settling legal, economic and organizational issues at the public authorities, non-governmental and scientific associations.
  • Promoting rehabilitation and prevention, as well as increasing the level of family therapy and support, psychological and social assistance.
  • Establishing and implementing cooperation with the specialists and professionals in other fields and their associations of all levels.
  • Promoting the establishment of the efficient modern National System of the Family Therapy in Ukraine.

Education

The Ukrainian Association of Systemic Family Therapy, Fractal Therapy Institute in cooperation with the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) is implementing a four-year theoretical and supervisory course in specialization “Systemic Family Therapy” (SFT).

Systemic Family Therapy

Certification:

The course program is accredited by the International Accreditation Commission for Systemic Therapy Education (IACSTE) and is a part of the standard for the qualification of systemic family psychotherapist in accordance with the international requirements of professional organizations:

Requirements:

Basic higher education (psychological, medical, pedagogical, philosophical, social work). Course content:

  • Theory – 540 hours
  • Methodology – 190 hours
  • Development of clinical skills (own experience) – 280 hours
  • Supervision – 135 hours

Theoretical Unit:

  • Family psychology. A systematic approach to counseling and therapy.
  • Models of Systemic Family Psychotherapy.
  • Personality development (health and pathology). The family influence on the development of personality.
  • Psychopathology and dysfunctional family models. System theory of psychopathology development from the psychiatry standpoint. The evolution of the symptom in a systemic approach.
  • Family therapy. Modern experience.
  • Methodology of family problems research.
  • Interaction theory (the II and I order cybernetics, communication theory, procedural diagnostics).
  • Ethics in Systemic Family Therapy.
  • Ukrainian family in turbulence conditions.
  • Integrative processes in the context of Ukrainian realities (Fractal therapy).
  • Family therapy. Advanced course. World modern experience.

Practical Unit:

  • Methods of therapeutic interviews conducting.
  • Couple and family therapy skills.
  • Forms of systemic interventions.
  • Individual work with own experience.
  • Supervisions.

Course organization:

  • Four sessions per year (5 days)
  • Graduation – qualification work and certification (on the basis of which UASFT and the Fractal Therapy Institute provides support in the further receipt of the International standard Diploma)

Course enrollment procedure:

  1. The registration form filling. A motivational essay writing.
  2. Interview.

Course Features:

  1. The theoretical unit in terms of content and number of theoretical hours falls with the requirements of the International Accreditation Commission for Systemic Therapy Education (IACSTE), the International Association of Systemic Family Therapy (IFTA), the Ukrainian Association of Systemic Family Therapy (UASFT) and the Fractal Therapy Institute (FTI).
  2. If all qualification requirements conditions of IACSTE, UASFT, IFTA and FTI met, the Institute applies for obtaining an International Diploma for a student.
  3. Clinical practice: FTI provides an opportunity to acquire professional skills in working with families based on the Kyiv Family Center “Rodynny Dim”.
  4. In the studying process students are:
  • taking part in events organize and conduct by IFTA (intensives, trainings, congresses, conferences, etc.);
  • watching therapeutic sessions online, getting extensive international experience from SFT representatives from different countries;
  • taking supervision from leading IFTA specialists.

Membership

How do I become a member of the UASFT?

The membership in the Organization is voluntary and individual. The membership in the Organization is open to the citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and stateless persons without citizenship that are staying legally in Ukraine, have reached the age of 18 and recognize the Charter of the Organization and promote the activity aimed at attaining the goal and tasks of the Organization.

In order to become a member of the UASFT you need to fill in a Questionnaire template and pay the membership fee.
